Grace (Every Damn Day)

NaBloPoMo November 2013
November is apparently NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month).  Or maybe every month is. Over at, a website which is confusing, but seems to be a meeting place for zillions of bloggers, there are many prompts to log in and share posts.  This website has always intimidated me, but seems like a good way to connect, so I'm going for it.

One of my awesome blogger friends, Dakota, wrote everyday last month!  She has a newborn and a toddler and I loved hearing her insight each day.  I am inspired to get out there and do this everyday, too.  One thing to know about me if you're following along is that I love/need to put pressure on myself.  It's just the way I am.  I need a goal and it needs to be reinforced outside of ME.  I am nothing without a challenge.

I have many titles of posts jotted down and even more drafts started from the summer, but often didn't post because I was away from the net, typing mostly in Livewriter.  The goal is to get some of it out there.  Some posts will be short and sweet, a la Cup of Jo, one of my first favorite blogs.  Some will be long overdue stories and pictures from summer.  My goals: write it the first time, be a more efficient editor, and most importantly, not to spend as much time surfing the net, or checking stats and links and comments.  (If you want to read more about me and the internet, just look around the blog a bit.  It's a deal and I'm not the only one.)

Today’s prompt on “Five Minute Friday” is Grace, so I’ll start with that one.  Five-Minute Friday's got me writing last year when I was pulled to blog but didn't know what to say.  However I must warn you: I NEVER SPEND ONLY 5 MINUTES.  Are you kidding me?

Besides "Five-Minute Friday's", I'll be post under other regular categories like "Mountain Mama", "Choir Chatter" (I teach 6-12 choir during the day), and "R + R".  I love to write this blog.  I wish it was my job, but dealing with sponsors and trying to make money on a blog seems like a waste of time to me.  Anyway, back to grace.

Grace.  When I first hear the word, I hear a church pastor saying, “by the Grace of God…” jogging me to think of something I'm thankful for.  Speaking of, a long-overdue update is coming up on the Boat Co. Family with tons of pictures.  Giving thanks for a spectacular summer.

I haven’t been to church in awhile.  Through most of college, I accompanied a church service for income, and to satisfy the weekly routine that had been built into my life as a young child.
I haven’t found a church lately, although I haven’t been looking.  Even though there is a church service every Sunday in Many Glacier, I have never been.  I hate to say it, but I don't want to be associated with Christians as a label or a group, even though I share some similar beliefs.  As of now, I don't see myself ever falling under a religious category, but hope to explore throughout my days.

Still, I think that I’d like our children to grow up with some sort of structure, reinforcing values and morals outside our home, getting exposure to religion.  Plus, there is something about a good hymn, or a chant and chorus.  Sacred music.  Ceremony.  I think it brings Grace to our day-by-day.

I know now that Grace has brought me a husband and especially my child (and bun in the oven).  Grace gives me endless chances to grow and change and be me.  Grace will help me fulfill these crazy ideas that fill my head, with a smile, grace will lead me to the next step in my spirituality.  The thing is, I need more Grace.  I often feel unsure and insecure, but at the same time, so full of promise.  Balancing that, on the yoga mat, before my family wakes up, will save me.  It will help me breathe through this pregnancy and stay positive and present.  Seeking Grace through Yoga.

So I'm making another November pledge.  Good grace!  Yoga Every Damn Day, as challenged by yogi Rachel Branthen (aka @yoga_girl on Instagram).  This 24-year old Swede is my wanna-be alter-ego, living in Aruba and traveling the world, teaching yoga and sharing positive, healthy, fun tidbits.  Read what she has to say about dealing with Stress and being Instafamous here.  Wow.

November = Every-Damn-Day
(yoga + writing)

Wanna join?  Stretch everyday!  Write in a journal everyday.  Play a song everyday.  Do something, but do it everyday.  Lots of people do days of gratitude in November for the Holidays.  Making a decision to do something everyday could lead us to a better mindset and well-being leading into the craziness of November/December.  Here we go!

Lots of ways to follow along on the sidebar, and I'd love to hear from you if you're reading every-damn-daying this month!
